Melbourne Test: Starc and Yashasvi spar over changing the bails

Head was seen making obscene gestures with his hands

Australia’s batsman Travis Head has been embroiled in controversy due to his objectionable celebration in the Melbourne Test. Rishabh Pant was out on his bowling on the last day of the match on Monday. After the wicket, Head was seen making obscene gestures with his hands.

In the press conference after the match, Australian captain Pat Cummins was asked a question on Head’s celebration. He said that he did this to tease spinner Nathan Lyon. There was a scuffle between Mitchell Starc and Yashasvi Jaiswal over changing the bails of the stumps.

How did Travis Head celebrate?

Travis Head took the big wicket of Rishabh Pant in the second innings of the match. As soon as he took the wicket, he was seen making obscene gestures with both his hands. Which the broadcasters also showed for some time. After the celebration, people on social media criticized Head and called his gesture obscene. Even in the press conference, media persons raised questions on his celebration.

Cummins said – “he teased Lion”

After the end of the match, Australia captain Pat Cummins said that he did not see Head’s celebration. When Cummins was shown the celebration, he said that Head did it to tease Lyon. Actually, Head was indicating to cool his finger by putting it in ice water.

Cummins said, even in the Brisbane Test, Lion did not get any wicket for a long time, but Head got the wicket. After this, he reached the head dressing room, picked up a bottle of cold water and teased Lion by putting his finger in it. Head believes that his finger gets hot after taking a wicket.

Match turned due to Pant’s wicket

In the second innings, India lost 3 wickets for 33 runs. Here Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal stood firm, both of them did not let any wicket fall in the second session. Pant had scored 30 runs, but while trying to play a big shot in the third session, he was caught out on the bowling of Travis Head.

Captain Cummins had brought Head to bowl only because his other bowlers were tired. On this occasion, Head took the big wicket of Pant and pushed Team India on the backfoot. From here, India lost the remaining 6 wickets in the next 21 overs and the team lost.

There was an altercation between Stark and Yashasvi

During the match, an altercation was also seen between Mitchell Starc and Yashasvi Jaiswal. While Yashasvi was batting, Starc exchanged the bails of the stumps. Yashasvi then put the bells back in their previous positions.

As soon as Yashasvi changed the bells, Starc asked whether there is any superstition in changing the bells. Why are you changing them back? Then Yashasvi said, I only believe in myself, that is why I am playing cricket here. I am enjoying my life and want to live all the moments.
