The Slovenian has signed a renewal with UAE Emirates until 2030 with a salary of eight million, double that of his main rivals. His termination clause is 200 million.
Tadej Pogačar has had a dream 2024 , and not only because of his victory at the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France. The Slovenian has signed a renewal with UAE Emirates until 2030, with a contract worth eight million euros per year, 40 over the next five years , which will make him the highest-paid cyclist in history.
The contract puts him, as in the Vuelta, in a clear position of advantage over his main pursuers. The eight million euros he will receive annually will double the four million euros received by his rivals : Remco Evenepoel, Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard, Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert. This ranking puts him ahead of great riders such as Miguel Indurain and Lance Armstrong. The Slovenian, whose tax residence is in Monaco, will receive those eight million net.
His 200 million clause, unique in the history of cycling and identical to that of Erling Haaland , undoubtedly links his future to UAE Emirates. The team had set out to protect the best cyclist of the moment and has succeeded, in a 2024 that will go down in history. The figures are dizzying, because practically no one has come close to earning such a salary . Before his doping scandal broke, Lance Armstrong was making similar amounts to Pogačar, although he did not reach the eight million mark. In the 1990s, Miguel Indurain had a salary that was considered exaggerated: 2.5 million euros per season .
