Former Cricketer Yuvraj Singh Supports Rohit-Kohli: Says – People Forget What Both Have Achieved, India Criticized After 2 Series Losses

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has backed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who are facing criticism.

43-year-old Yuvraj said- 'We are talking about our great players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, saying many bad things about them. But people forget what they have achieved in the past. He is one of the greatest cricketers of this time. Well, they lost, they didn't play good cricket. But they are more miserable than we are.'

After 10 years, the Indian team has faced a 3-1 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Indian captain Rohit Sharma has scored 31 runs and Virat Kohli has scored 190 runs in the 5 match series. Both are being criticized for their poor performances.

Clean sweep at home is bigger defeat than BGT defeat: Yuvraj Yuvraj Singh said – 'New Zealand's clean sweep at home (3-0) is a bigger failure for the Indian team than the defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.' He continued, 'I think losing to New Zealand is more painful. Because they lost 3-0 at home. You know, this is not acceptable. This (losing BGT) is still acceptable because you have won it twice in Australia and this time you had to face defeat.'

Yuvraj said – 'I believe that Australia has been a very strong team for a long time.' Kohli scored a century against Australia, but he was dismissed on balls going outside the off-stump. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma managed to score only 31 runs in 5 innings and therefore decided not to play in the fifth and final Test in Sydney.

Special things of Yuvraj Singh…

  • Yuvraj said- 'I have full faith not only in Rohit and Kohli, but also in the new head coach Gautam Gambhir, who was also my former teammate. I think Indian team has the best minds with good knowledge of cricket right now with Gambhir as coach, Agarkar and Rohit, Kohli and Bumrah as selectors. They have to decide what is the right path for Indian cricket in the future.'
  • Yuvraj also praised Rohit's decision to stay out of the Sydney Test. He said- 'I think this is a big deal. I've never seen a captain out of form before and sitting himself out. This is the greatness of Rohit Sharma that he put the team before himself.'
  • Yuvi said- 'I think he is a great captain. Win or lose, he will always be a great captain. Under his leadership, we have played the final of the (ODI) World Cup. We have won the T20 World Cup. We have achieved a lot.' He urged critics to exercise restraint while analyzing the team's performance.

Won the World Cup in 2007 and 2011 Yuvraj Singh has been part of the Indian team that won the T-20 in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. He has played 304 ODIs, 40 Tests and 58 T20 Internationals for India.
