Haryana-Rajasthan win in Vijay Hazare Trophy pre-quarters: Shami gets 3 wickets, yet Bengal lose; Tamil Nadu lost in a thrilling match

Mohammad Shami played 3 matches for Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Two pre-quarter final matches were played in Vijay Hazare Trophy on Thursday. Both the matches were held in Vadodara in which Rajasthan defeated Tamil Nadu and Haryana defeated Bengal. Mohammad Shami took 3 wickets for Bengal, yet the team suffered a heavy defeat by 72 runs.

The quarter final matches will be played on January 11 and 12. Rajasthan will face Vidarbha and Haryana will face Gujarat. In the remaining 2 quarter finals, Maharashtra will face Punjab and Karnataka will face Baroda.

Pre Quarter Final 1: Haryana Vs Bengal At the Moti Bagh Stadium, Bengal won the toss and elected to bowl. Haryana's openers could not convert a good start into a big score. Parth Vats and Nishant Sindhu scored fifties. In the end, Rahul Tevatia scored 29 runs and Sumit Kumar scored 41 runs to take the score to 298 runs for 9 wickets.

Shami bowled 10 overs for Bengal and took 3 wickets for 61 runs. Mukesh Kumar got 2 successes. Sayan Ghosh, Pradipta Pramanik, Kaushik Maiti and Karan Lal got 1 wicket each.

Mohammed Shami has not played international cricket for 14 months.

After a good start, Bengal kept losing wickets Against a big target, Bengal started well. The openers did not lose a single wicket in the Powerplay. Captain Sudeep Kumar Gharmi was dismissed for 36 and his 70-run partnership with Abhishek Porel was broken. Porrell scored 57 runs, the score at the time of his wicket being 147/3.

With the departure of Porel, the Bengal team continued to lose wickets. Anustup Majumdar scored 36 runs and Karan Lal scored 28 runs. The rest of the batsmen could not do anything special and the team was bundled out for 226 runs in 43.1 overs. Parth Vatse took 3 wickets from Haryana. Nishant Sindhu and Anshul Kamboj got 2 wickets each. While Aman Kumar, Sumit Kumar and Amit Rana got 1-1 success.

Abhishek Porel played an innings of 57 runs.

Pre Quarter Final 2: Tamil Nadu Vs Rajasthan At the Kotambi Stadium, Tamil Nadu won the toss and elected to bowl. Rajasthan lost their first wicket in the 10th over, Sachin Yadav getting out for 4 off 27 balls. From here, Abhijit Tomar scored 111 runs and captain Mahipal Lomror scored 60 runs. Karthik Sharma scored 35 runs and the score got close to 250.

Despite a good start, the Rajasthan team could not score big. The team was all out for 267 runs in 47.3 overs. Varun Chakraborty took 5 wickets from Tamil Nadu. Sandeep Warrier and Sai Kishore got 2 wickets each while Trilok Nag got a breakthrough.

Abhijit Tomar hit 12 fours and 4 sixes.

Tamil Nadu lost a wicket in the last over Tamil Nadu got an opening partnership of 60 runs. Tushar Raheja was dismissed for 11 runs in the seventh over, after which Bupati Kumara could not open the account either. After that, Baba Indrajit along with Narayan Jagdishan crossed the score of 100 runs. Jagdeeshan got out after scoring 65 runs, after which Indrajit also returned to the pavilion after scoring 37 runs.

Vijay Shankar then shared a fifty with Muhammad Ali. Ali was dismissed for 34 runs, from here Tamil Nadu's wicket began to fall. Shankar was left standing at one end, wickets started falling in front of him. In the end, Shankar was also bowled after scoring 49 runs. Chakraborty fought back with 18 runs, but the team was bowled out for 248 in the 48th over and Haryana won the match by 19 runs.

Abhijeet Tomar player of the match Abhijit Tomar, who scored a century for Rajasthan, was the player of the match in the second pre-quarter final. He played an innings of 111 runs. Parth Vats won the player of the match award in the first match. Along with scoring a fifty, he also took 3 wickets.
