Australian Open: World No. 1 Sinner reaches fourth round: Switek defeats Radukanu, Sriram Balaji-Miguel pair exit after defeat

World No. 1 tennis player Janic Siner has reached the fourth round of Australian Open men's singles. Defending champion Sinner defeated American Marcos Giron 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 at the Rod Laver Arena on Saturday.

Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Switek advanced to the fourth round of the women's singles tournament with an easy win over Britain's Emma Raducanu. Switek won the last 11 games of the match to defeat 2021 US Open champion Radukanu 6-1, 6-0.

The pair of Balaji-Miguel were eliminated after losing India's N Sriram Balaji and his Mexican partner Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela were eliminated after losing. Balaji and Varela lost 6-7 (7), 6-4, 3-6. The first set was very exciting which lasted for 56 minutes.

History of the Australian Open The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year. The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia started the tournament in 1905, which was previously known as the Australian Championships. The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia later became Tennis Australia. After this, the Australian Championship was renamed the Australian Open. From 1969 this tennis tournament became officially known as the Australian Open.

It's the first Grand Slam of the year There are 4 Grand Slams in tennis. All four are held annually, starting with the Australian Open in January. The French Open is held in May and June. Wimbledon is held in July and the US Open in August-September. The US Open is the last Grand Slam of the year.
