England squad announced for 1st T20I: Captain Buttler names 4 fast bowlers in playing XI; Match against India on January 22

England have announced their squad for the first T20 match against India. The match will be played on January 22 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood have found place in the field of play. Wicketkeeper Phil Salt will open the batting along with opener Ben Duckett. While captain Jos Buttler can be seen batting at number three.

England have announced their playing XI on social media platform X.

Atkinson and Wood fast bowlers with Jofra 4 fast bowlers have been included in the team. Gus Atkinson has returned to the team after almost a year. In December 2023, he played his last T20 match on the tour of West Indies. In 3 T20Is, Atkinson has taken 6 wickets at an economy rate of 9.50.

Jofra Archer last played a T20 in India on 20 March 2021. Mark Wood and Jamie Overton are also named in the squad.

The English team reached India on January 18 The England team arrived in India on January 18, after which they started training on Monday. Livingston, who was playing in the T-20 league with Pretoria Capitals in South Africa, was the first to come to India. The rest of the team members came to India after completing their training in Dubai.

India made Akshar the vice-captain All-rounder Akshar Patel has been named vice-captain for the 5-match T20 series against England. Fast bowler Mohammad Shami has also been included in the squad. Shami is away from international cricket after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Indian squad for T20 series against England Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Sanju Samson (Wicketkeeper), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akshar Patel (Vice-Captain), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Varunavarthy Chakra, Ravi Bishnoi , Washington Sundar and Dhruva Jurrell (wicketkeeper).
