British tennis player Jack Draper has made it to the Indian Wales ATP Masters 1000 finals. In the semifinals played on Sunday, he defeated defending champion Carlos Alkaraz in three sets. The draper will now face Holgar Rune in the final.
The 14th-seeded draper defeated the world's third-ranked Alkaraz 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 in the 44-minute match. In this way he reached his first ATP masters 1000 finals, and broke the series of Alkaraz's 16 -match win.
Beating Carlos was incredible – Draper “It was wonderful to defeat Carlos on this court. He is a great champion and he was trying to win the third consecutive title,” the draper said.
Rune defeated Medvedev Denmark's Holgar Roan defeated two-time runner-up Daniel Medvedev in the second semifinal and entered the ATP Masters 1000 final for the fourth time. He defeated Medvedev in a straight set. Rune won 7-5, 6-4 against Medvedev. Medvedev was keeping an eye on the Indian Wales final for the third consecutive year. Earlier, he suffered a defeat against Carlos Alkaraz both times.
I'm so proud of myself – Rune Roan said, “The work is not over yet, but it was a wonderful fight. Playing against Daniel is one of the most difficult challenges for me. For the first time I managed to beat him, but we know each other very well. It is natural that I had the right strategy, but it was still very difficult.”
