Kolkata-Lucknow IPL match will be played on April 8 instead of April 6: police refuse to protect; Last year also changed the date

The IPL league stage match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) has been postponed. The BCCI announced on Friday that the match will now be played on April 8 instead of April 6.

In fact, Kolkata police refused to provide security on April 6 due to Ram Ninmi. Last year, Kolkata's match was shifted to Eden Gardens due to Ram Ninth.

2 matches will be played on April 8 April 8 is Tuesday, so there will now be 2 matches that day. The first match between Kolkata and Lucknow will be played at Eden Gardens Stadium at 3.30 pm. At the same time, the match between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings will be played in Mullanpur at 7.30pm.

Lucknow Supergiants have won a match in the 18th season, the team beat Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.

Only 1 match will be played on April 6 April 6 is Sunday. There were 2 matches to play that day, but only one match will be played. The match will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans from 7:30 pm. On Saturday, on April 5, only 2 matches will be played as per the previous schedule.

The match was to be played in Guwahati first Ramnavami is on April 6. Kolkata police said there would be a huge crowd in the city that day and therefore the department could not provide security at the stadium. The Bengal Cricket Association was planning to organize the match in Guwahati on April 6. However, the date of the match has now been changed, while the field will remain the Gardens.

Kolkata Knight Riders won their first match of the season on Wednesday. The team beat Rajasthan.

The CAB president said- difficult to handle 65,000 viewers “We held two meetings with the police but the green flag could not be found for the match,” said Snehashish Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Due to lack of security, it will be difficult to handle the crowd of 65,000 spectators in the match. So the match has to be moved elsewhere.

BJP leader Suvendu official said that more than 20,000 processions would be taken in West Bengal on Ram Ninth. Therefore, strict security systems will need to be maintained across the state.

The IPL's 18th season final will also be played in Kolkata.

KKR's match also changed last season KKR's home matches faced problems for the second consecutive season due to Ram Ninth. Last year, the team's match against the Rajasthan Royals was to be held on April 17, on the ninth of Ram. Even then the police refused to provide security, which led to the postponement date.
