The Indian Army has awarded Star Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra as the honorary Colonel position in the Territorial Army. Neeraj has been honored for his extraordinary contribution to the game and his commitment to the nation.
The Defense Ministry made the announcement on Wednesday, May 14. According to the statement, the appointment has been in effect from April 16. Neeraj Chopra was formerly posted as Subedar in the Indian Army. He was made Subedar in 2018. Neeraj joined the Indian Army as Deputy Subedar in 2016.
Prior to Neeraj Chopra, players like former Indian captain MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev and Abhinav Bindra have been given honorary positions in the Territorial Army.
Neeraj will participate in the Doha Diamond League on May 16 Neeraj Chopra will attend the Doha Diamond League on Friday May 16. Neeraj finished second with a javelin throw at a distance of 88.36 meters last season. He became a champion in 2023 with a score of 88.67 meters.
