Sri Lankan all -rounder Mathews retires from the Test: White Ball will continue to play cricket; Debut in 2009, scored more than 8 thousand runs

Sri Lankan all -rounder Angelo Mathews has retired from Test cricket. On Friday, he announced his retirement on social media. Mathews wrote: 'The first Test against Bangladesh in June will be the last test of my career, which will be played in Cheli from June 17 to 21. If my country needs me, I will be available for white-ball selection. ' Mathews has not been selected in Sri Lanka's white-ball team for almost a year.

37 -year -old Mathews made a Test debut in 2009 and has played 3 Tests. In her own Test career for about 16 years, Mathews has performed well not only with bats but also in captaincy.

I gave my everything to cricket- Mathews Mathews wrote on Instagram, “It's time to say goodbye to international Test cricket, the most dear of cricket. For the last 17 years, playing cricket for Sri Lanka has been the greatest honor and pride of my life. When a player wears a national team jerseys, he has given me a lot of cricket, and I have given me a lot of cricket.”

He wrote further, 'I thank thousands of Sri Lankan cricket fans who have always been with me in the ups and downs of my career. I also thank Sri Lanka cricket and all coaches. One chapter is coming to an end, but my love for the game will always be. '

Scored 16 Test century Angelo Mathews made a Test debut against Pakistan at Gale in July 2009. The 37 -year -old Mathews has scored 8167 runs in 118 Tests so far at an average of 44.62, including 16 centuries and 45 half centuries. Mathews also took 33 wickets in the Test match.

Captain in 34 matches Mathews made Sri Lanka captaincy in 34 Tests, of which 13 were victorious in the match. Sri Lanka suffered a defeat in 15 matches. 6 Test matches were drawn.
