The oldest tennis tournament, Wimbledon, starts today at the All England Club in London. This is the 138th edition of the 148 -year -old Grand Slam tournament. The Wimbledon tournament closed only during the World War and Corona epidemic in 2020. It is also called the most prestigious in the four grand slums of tennis.
Wimbledon is the third Grand Slam of the year. Tennis contains 4 grand slams. All four are held every year, starting with the Australian Open in January. The French Open is in May and June. Wimbledon is in July and the US Open in August-September. The last Grand Slam of the US Open year is.
Serbian star tennis player Novak Yokovich will try to win his 25th title in the tournament, but he will challenge Spain's young star Carlos Alkaraz. Alkaraz, 22, defeated Yokovich in the final match played on the gross court last year.
Wimbledon Planning All England Club Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam tournament that is not organized by any National Tennis Association. It is organized by the All England Club. The club was founded in 1868. Tennis was previously called crockets. Six members started the All England Tennis and Crocket Club together and later started the Wimbledon Tournament in 1877.
Today it is a private club and has 500 members. The princess of Wales owns the club. Catharin Elizabeth Middleton currently owns it.
The male singles champion in Wimbledon is given a cup and a silver plate trophy to the female singles champion.

- Ball Boys and Ball Girls Ball Boys and Girls make this championship special. They are known as BBG. Since 2005, BBG has worked in the 6 team, 2 of which are on the net and 4 angles. Their job is to pick up the ball and reach the player. BBG was first seen in the championship in the 1920s and 30s. They are nominated by the school principals, though they all have to pass the written examination based on the rules of tennis.
- Attire All players in the tournament are allowed to play tennis only by wearing completely white clothes. There was a protest during the Wimbledon in 2022. Opponents said it is challenging for women to play tennis by wearing white clothes during periods. Therefore, the white dress code should be removed, but Wimbledon remained firm on its rules. Even this time, players will only play in white dress.
- Viewers are served strawberry-cream wine. Viewers in the tournament have the tradition of serving British wine in addition to strawberries and creams.
- Organized on Grass Court Wimbledon began in 1877 on the Grass Court. The competition has been playing on the Grass Court for the last 146 years. This is the only competition in the four Grand Slam that is played on the Grass Court. Australian Open and US Open Hard Court played on the French Open Clay Court.
