Peru captain furious with referee after losing to Argentina

Peru captain Paulo Guerrero is unable to accept defeat in the 2026 World Cup qualifying match. According to him, the referee gave Argentina captain Lionel Messi an extra advantage in the match.

Peru lost 1-0 to Argentina in a 2026 World Cup qualifier, but Peru captain Paulo Guerrero is not accepting the defeat. According to him, the referee gave Argentina captain Lionel Messi an advantage in the match.

Guerrero, 40, vented his anger at the referee. He said, “It’s difficult if the referee force you to lose the match. The Argentine footballers were pushing us, but no foul was given. But the referee was giving a foul even if we put a finger on Messi.” Messi has a huge number of fans. But on the field, he is a footballer. The Peruvian captain believes that he should not be separated from the rest of the other footballers. He said, “Nobody says anything about Messi. If someone blocks or touches Messi even a little, it is a foul. But even if they push us, no foul is given. If that happens, the natural rhythm of the game is lost. Argentina created most of the chances from set pieces”, the captain said after the match.
