India Wins T20 World Cup After 17 Years
India won the T20 Cricket World Cup. India achieved this under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. The title came after 17 long years. The tournament was jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies. In a nail-biting final against South Africa, India emerged as the winner. With this they claimed their second T20 World Cup title.
6 Medals at the Paris Olympics
India managed to bag 6 medals at the Paris Olympics. Though this achievement was not as big as previous years. The athletes still made headlines. Neeraj Chopra, who won gold medal in javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics, secured a silver medal this time. Shooter Manu Bhaker shone brightly, winning 2 bronze medals. India earned 3 medals in shooting and one each in athletics, wrestling, and hockey.

Historic Performance at the Paralympics
India delivered its best-ever performance at the Paralympics, winning a total of 29 medals. This was 10 more than their tally in the last Paralympics. Indian athletes dominated in athletics with 17 medals, followed by 5 in badminton, 4 in shooting, 2 in archery, and 1 in judo.

15 Medals at the Archery World Cup
Indian archers showcased their talent at the Archery World Cup held in April. The team bagged 15 medals including 7 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze. Most of these victories came in team events, while individual performances faced tough challenges.
D Gukesh Becomes Youngest World Chess Champion
India celebrated a historic moment in chess. The 18-year-old D Gukesh defeated China’s Ding Liren to become the World Chess Champion. Gukesh made history as the youngest-ever chess player to win the prestigious title.
Indian Women Win Asian Hockey Champions Trophy
The Indian women’s hockey team was unbeatable at the Asian Champions Trophy. Team India clinched the title by defeating China 1-0 in the final. This was the third time the Indian women’s team lifted the trophy, creating history with their flawless performance.
