Jon Rahm’s 5-Minute Workout to Keep Your Flexibility Up

The Spanish golfer began a routine more than ten years ago that allowed him to continue growing and improving to become one of the best in his sport.

Jon Rahm is one of the current leaders in the world of golf and one of the most internationally recognised Spanish athletes . The Barrika native has won two of the major titles, the US Open in 2021 and the Augusta Masters in 2023. In addition, he reached number one in the ranking in 2020 , being the second Spaniard to achieve this after Seve Ballesteros .

The Basque is one of the best in the world and his talent had been visible for years. That is why Rahm visited the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) headquarters in San Diego, California, when he was 18 years old, to analyse his biomechanics, postural hygiene and so on. At that time, the golfer did not go to the gym and was not on any kind of diet , but what they recommended he had to do was a five-minute stretching routine .

“Listen to what I’m going to tell you. You have a lot of talent, but if your body starts to lose flexibility, it’s going to be difficult to try to achieve what you want . Let’s work on that mobility,” advised Greg Rose , an American expert in evaluation and treatment of athletes, biomechanics, strength and conditioning.

It is important to note that Rahm was born with one foot turned 90 degrees , which forced him to have his ankle broken twenty minutes after birth and his right leg to grow slower than normal . This causes him to have a lower angle of impact than the average player.

“Flexibility works by accumulation. It only takes five minutes every morning. For example, when you get out of the shower or before you get in the shower. You just lie down and do a five-minute routine ,” Dr. Rose continued to insist. “

Tell me what to do because I have nothing ,” Rahm told him, and after this five-minute morning routine, the Spaniard not only managed to maintain his flexibility, but he also managed to increase it and gained physical strength that has allowed him to have a great professional career in which he still has many successes to achieve.
