Abhishek's century, Hyderabad made history: chased IPL's second largest run, achieved 246 runs against Punjab

Sunrisers Hyderabad chase the second largest run in IPL history. In the second match played on Saturday, the team achieved a target of 246 against Punjab Kings in just 18 overs. Team opener Abhishek Sharma scored his first century, playing 141 runs.

Travis Head also scored 67 runs from Hyderabad, sharing 171 runs with Abhishek. Harshal Patel took 4 wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 82 runs from Punjab Kings and scored the team to 245. Punjab chose to bat at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

SRH chased the second largest run in IPL history. Earlier in 2024, Punjab Kings chased 262 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. Surprisingly, Shreyas Iyer was also the captain of Kolkata at the time. This means that the two most successful runs in the history of IPL came to the captaincy of Shreyas.

Abhishek Sharma gave SRH a quick start while chasing a target of 246 runs. He was caught on a no ball against Yash Thakur in the powerplay. From here he played big shots and put Punjab Kings on the backfoot. Abhishek scored the first century of his IPL career in 40 balls. He was dismissed for 141 runs.

2. The hero of the win

  • Ishaan Malinga: Malinga debuting in the IPL bowled in the middle over. He took 2 wickets. He sent Prabhasimaran Singh and Nehal Vadhera to the pavilion.
  • Harshal Patel: Harshal took 4 wickets while bowling in the middle. He sent Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Priyanka Arya and Shashank Singh to the pavilion. His bowling limited Punjab to a low score.
  • Travis Head: Head fifty that opened with Abhishek. He scored 67 and kept the team's scoring rate high.

3. Fighter of the Match

Shreyas Iyer, the only captain from Punjab Kings, was seen showing the fight. He played 82 off 36 balls and scored the team to a big 245 run. However, he did not get support from the bowlers and the team lost in the 19th over.

4. Turning points

Hyderabad opener Abhishek and Head batted very fast, facing a target of 246 runs. Both scored the team to 150 runs in the 11th over. After the head wicket, his 171 -run partnership was broken. However, the two had completely snatched the match from Punjab's hands.

5. Near Orange Cap Puran

On Saturday, Lucknow's Nicholas floods scored half a century and gave their team a victory. He has an orange cap. Chennai has the highest wicket in the name of Noor Ahmed. Delhi Capitals are still at the top of the points table.
