Action on BCCI players after Australia loss: Will not stay with family throughout tour; Salary cut is also possible

Now, if Team India goes on a foreign tour, it will travel by bus only. If the tour is 45 days or more, families and spouses may stay together for only 14 days, not the entire tour.

After the 3-1 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the BCCI has implemented some new rules. It aims to increase bonding between the team and focus on the game.

According to media reports, the BCCI deliberated on these decisions during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai. During the Australia tour, many senior players were seen traveling in their own vehicles and the families of players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul accompanied them throughout the tour.

New changes for Team India

  • Dainik Jagran quoted an official from the BCCI office as saying that the board has re-implemented the rules lifted during Covid-19.
  • Family and spouses will not be able to travel with the players throughout the tour. This rule will be more applicable especially on foreign tours so that the performance of the players is not affected. For tours of less than 45 days, families and spouses may stay together for a maximum of 7 days.
  • No player will be allowed to travel in his own car, irrespective of the size of the player, in order to maintain team unity.

Action will be taken against Gambhir's manager Coach Gautam Gambhir's manager Gaurav Arora was seen traveling with Team India. This had never happened before. BCCI has taken strict action against him. Now Arora will not be allowed to stay in the team hotel. He will not be able to sit in VIP either. He is also not allowed to travel in the team bus.

Coach Gautam Gambhir posted this photo with manager Gaurav Arora on his birthday on 19 October 2024.

Salary cut suggested, no decision yet The Indian Express quoted a source as saying that a salary cut was also suggested during the AGM. That is, if the performance is not good, the player's salary can be deducted. Its purpose is to make the player aware of his responsibilities. A decision has not been taken regarding this yet.
