Virat Kohli was mocked by the Australian media after his clash with debutant Sam Constas in the Melbourne Test. The West Australian newspaper on Friday featured Virat Kohli as a joker on its back page and called him Clown Kohli meaning Joker Kohli.
The newspaper said that an Indian coward collided with a boy making a dream debut, for which he was fined.
One newspaper said that the fine imposed on Kohli after the clash with Constas was too low. Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said that the Australian media always acts as the supporting staff of the cricket team. This is not correct.
Kohli clashed with Constas, fined 20% of match fee

Commenting on Star Sports, former cricketer Irfan Pathan said, ‘Kohli’s behavior cannot be called appropriate, but it is not appropriate for the Australian media to target Virat in this way. It is not appropriate to call a veteran cricketer like Virat a joker. This cannot be accepted.’

Gavaskar also criticized the ICC’s lesser sentence as wrong. He said that four such incidents have taken place this year. Josh Hazlewood was fined 15 percent of his match fee for such an incident.
