The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former all -rounder Azhar Mahmud as the head coach of the Test team. He was previously an assistant coach of the team.
On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement that Azhar Mahmud has worked as an assistant coach and has long been part of the main group of the team. He has a deep understanding of sports and international experience. Azhar has all the qualities to become a head coach.
Akib will replace Javed Azhar Mahmud will replace former fast bowler Akib Javed, who was in charge of this after Jason Gillespe. Gillespie resigned from his position in December last year. His tenure was to end in 2026. The Gillespie team was upset with the PCB for the selection and pitch preparation rights.
Akib Javed is part of the current PCB selection committee.
