Rahmat Shah scored a double century for Afghanistan
Rahmat Shah scored a double century for Afghanistan in the Bulawayo Test. He shared a 361-run stand for the third wicket with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, both still unbeaten. With the help of both his innings, the team scored 425 runs at the end of the third day’s play.
Despite a strong partnership, Afghanistan are 161 runs behind Zimbabwe’s first innings score. Zimbabwe scored 586 runs in the first innings, with 3 players of the team scoring centuries.
Afghanistan did not lose a single wicket on the third day
On Saturday, Afghanistan started the third day of the Test with a score of 95/2. Rahmat Shah led his innings with a score of 49 and Shahidi with 16 runs. Both batted throughout the day and did not let the team’s wicket fall.
Shah’s double century off 371 balls
After the first two wickets fell early, Rahmat and Shahidi batted cautiously. On the third day, the pitch was suitable for batting. Both took advantage of this and took the team’s score past 400. Rahmat scored a double century off 371 balls, hitting 23 fours and 3 sixes in the innings. He was not out by scoring 231 runs.
361 run partnership with Shahidi
Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored a century along with Rahmat. He also remained unbeaten till the end of the day’s play, scoring 141 runs. His innings included 16 fours. Shahidi also shared a 361 run partnership for the third wicket with Rahmat.
The first match of the Test series between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan is being played in Bulawayo. Shaun Williams, captain Craig Irwin and Brian Bennett scored centuries for the team. The team was all out after scoring 586 runs.
