Bumrah could miss Champions Trophy group stage: back swelling; Expected to fit by first week of March

India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be out of the group stage of next month's ICC Champions Trophy. According to a report by Indian Express, Bumrah is suffering from swelling in his back. For this he has been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. His recovery will be monitored here.

Bumrah suffered some back problems on the second day of the Sydney Test against Australia, after which he was taken for a scan. After this he could not bowl in the match.

The ICC Champions Trophy will start from February 19. India will play their first match against Bangladesh on February 20.

Expect full fit in first week of March itself The Indian selectors held a meeting in Mumbai on Saturday to select the squad for the T20 series against England. According to the report, during this time he was briefed about Bumrah's fitness. According to a BCCI source, Bumrah is expected to be fully fit by the first week of March. Before that he will stay in NCA for three weeks. Even after recovery, he will have to play one or two matches in the NCA, even if it is a practice match, which will be played to see his match fitness.

Delay in squad announcement for Champions Trophy The BCCI has announced the squad for the home T-20 series against England on Saturday. It was expected that the squad for the Champions Trophy would also be announced on the same day but it did not happen. The deadline to announce the squad for the Champions Trophy is today, January 12, but the BCCI has asked the ICC to extend the deadline. The team can be changed till February 12.

The selectors are considering whether to include Bumrah in the 15-man squad or include him in the list of reserve players for the tournament.

India will start the campaign against Bangladesh India are in Group-A. The team's group consists of Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. In the second group are Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan. Two semi-finals will be played on March 4 and 5. When the final will be played on March 9.
