Bumrah’s name topped the list of records on Sunday. Jasprit is the first bowler in the world to take 200 Test wickets at an average of less than 20. He has also become the leading bowler among SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) with 142 wickets. Bumrah has taken 29 wickets so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25.

Jasprit Bumrah has taken 200 wickets giving 3912 runs in Tests. So far, 85 bowlers have taken 200+ wickets in Tests, in which Bumrah’s name is at the top. The previous lowest number of runs conceded by a bowler at the time of his 200th Test wicket was 4067 runs by West Indies’ Joel Garner. Among Indians, this record was earlier in the name of Ravindra Jadeja, who had taken 200 wickets for 4840 runs. In the 3 Tests played in Melbourne, Bumrah has so far taken 23 wickets, which is the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler on a foreign ground. The previous highest of 20 wickets was in the name of Anil Kumble, who took it at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Since the beginning of 2015, there have been tenth wicket partnerships of more than 100 balls against India twice in Tests. Both these partnerships have come in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood played 18 overs in Perth. And on Sunday, Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland have played 17.5 overs so far.

Indians taking the most wickets in SENA countries

Jasprit Bumrah has become the Indian bowler taking the most wickets in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia i.e. SENA countries. He has taken 142 wickets in 58 matches. Second in the list is former leg spinner Anil Kumble, who has taken 141 wickets in 67 matches.

Fastest to 200 wickets at an average of less than 20 in Tests

Bumrah has become the first bowler to have taken 200 wickets in Test cricket with an average of less than 20. The list is dominated by Caribbean bowlers. Joel Gardner, Malcolm Marshall and Curtly Ambrose have taken 200+ wickets at an average above 20.

Fastest bowlers to take 200 wickets in Test (ball wise)

Bumrah is the fourth fast bowler to take 200 wickets in Tests. He took 200 wickets on 8484 balls. Bumrah made this record by dismissing Travis Head in the 34th over of the Australian second innings.

India’s highest run chase in Test

India has chased the best score of 403 runs in Tests so far. The team had achieved this score against West Indies in 1976. Australia has so far scored 333* runs on the fourth day of the Melbourne Test.
