Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the fifth Test match against England at Oval due to waist problems. Instead, Akash Deep can be included in the Indian team. The Medical Team of the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) has taken this decision in view of Bumrah's fitness.
Cricket website ESPN Cricketinfo has claimed that Bumrah decided to play in the last Test to do the series, but the medical team decided to rest with his fitness.
The Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy's fifth and final Test match between India and England will be played at Oval from July 31. India is 1-2 in the series and wants to do the series exactly by winning the Oval Test. But the world's number-1 bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be played in this match to protect them from back injury. Instead, Akashdeep, who has been recovered from the injury, will join the team.
Bumrah will only play 3 matches Just before the series began, BCCI Medical Team, Bumrah, Indian team management and selectors decided that it would play only three of the five Tests on the England tour. Bumrah played the first Test at Headingley, missed the second Test at Edgbaston (which India won), and then played the last two Tests at Lord's and Old Trafford.
Why was this decision taken? Earlier, it was decided to change the plan and play it in the last Test. Especially when there is a chance to do the series 2-2. But due to the slow and flat pitch of the oval as well as the heavy workload on Bumrah in the previous test, it was decided to rest.
Bumrah threw 33 overs at Old Trafford, the highest in the same innings of his career, and for the first time he scored more than 100 runs on his ball.
His pace also weakened during the series. At Headingley, its 42.7% ball was thrown at a speed of more than 140 km/h, which was 22.3% in Lords and only 0.5% in Old Trafford.
In Australia, Bumrah tried to bowl excessively, causing his back injury. In view of Oval's flat pitch and workload management, the BCCI decided not to take any risk.
Bumrah's exhibition Bumrah is the second most successful bowler after Mohammad Siraj with 14 wickets in the series.
Akashdeep has returned and Arshadeep Singh can debut Akashdeep: I could not play in the fourth Test due to injury, but now it is perfectly fit. He took 10 wickets in the Edgbaston Test and proved to be a hero for India. He will replace Bumrah.
Arshadeep Singh: He has also been recovered from the injury and is likely to get a test cap in this match. It will replace Anshul Kamboj.
