The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which manages the stadium, failed to comply with the required fire safety standards, on Monday. The power supply of Chinnaswamy Stadium was cut by Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM).
Large matches and events are organized at the stadium, but the stadium management did not take fire safety clearance. With this in mind, the head of the Karnataka Fire Department recommended to cut KSCA's electricity, on which the Bescom officer took immediate action.
In such a case, the power supply will be closed until the stadium receives the required security certificate.
Bengaluru Stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000 viewers.
