'Color the beard every fourth day': Now is the time that … Virat spoke for the first time on his retirement

Virat Kohli has talked about retiring from Test cricket for the first time. At a program organized in London, he said that he had to make this decision due to increasing age. Virat is 36 years old. He announced his retirement from Test cricket by a post on social media on May 12, 2025.

Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh organized a dinner party for his YouWecan Foundation in London. People from all over the world, including Kohli, were present at the party. When TV presenter Gaurav Kapoor said that people remind them on the field, Virat smiled and said, “I was painted two days ago. When you had to shave every four days, you should understand that the time (retirement) has come.”

Kohli played 123 Tests for India

Kohli's Test career has been superb, scoring 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85 in 123 Tests (210 innings). During this period, he has scored 30 centuries and 31 half centuries. He captained 68 Tests and won 40 of them. The percentage of its victory is 58.82, the third one of the captains in 50 or more Tests.

Virat is ahead of Dhoni and Rohit in the Test, winning all the homeground series Virat Kohli has not won any ICC tournament as captain. As captain in Test cricket, he is ahead of both Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Kohli won all 11 series at home. In the captaincy of both Dhoni and Rohit, Team India suffered a defeat in the Test series on the home pitch. Rohit's captaincy also includes a clean sweep on New Zealand.

Kohli led the team for the first time against South Africa in 2015. India won the 4 Test series 3-0. After this, under Kohli's captaincy, the team won all the Test series played in India.

Kohli retired from T20 after winning the World Cup last year Virat Kohli retired from T20 international cricket on June 29, 2024 after winning the T20 World Cup. He will continue to play ODI cricket. Virat is also playing in the IPL. This year, his team Royal Challengers Bangalore has won the IPL title. Kohli has been part of this team since 2008.
