Decision in the next 48 hours on IPL: Remaining 16 matches can be held in three cities, league will expire in May

During the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamshala on May 8, the flood lights were closed and viewers were evacuated from the stadium.

The IPL 2025 had to be postponed on May 9 due to tensions with Pakistan. The BCCI then said that the country is currently in a state of war and it is not appropriate to organize a cricket tournament in such a situation. Now a ceasefire agreement with Pakistan. In this case, the BCCI is considering holding the remaining match of the League. Suggestions are being taken from the government for this and a decision can be taken in the next 48 hours.

Let's understand all the important things related to IPL with these 6 questions …

1. How many matches are left, when can the match be done? 74 matches were to be played under IPL 2025. 58 matches were played by May 8. That means there are 16 matches left. Twelve of these matches belong to the league stage and 4 matches are the playoff stage. BCCI is trying to finish the league only in May. According to the previous program, the final was to be held on May 25. The double header match was to be held on May 11 and 18. That is, two matches a day. Now to complete the league in May, the board may have to increase the number of double headers.

2. Which team's match is left? There are two league matches left in Mumbai, Kolkata, Rajasthan and Chennai. The rest of the team is yet to play three or three leagues. The position of the team from the following points table can be understood. One team has to play 14 league matches.

3. How many teams are still in the playoff race? Three out of 10 IPL teams have been out of the playoff race. These three teams are Hyderabad, Rajasthan and Chennai. The rest of the team is still in the playoff race.

4. In which cities can the rest of the match be held? The remaining 16 matches were to be held in 9 different cities according to the previous schedule. These include Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Jaipur and Kolkata. It is not yet decided whether the match will be held in all these cities or decline. According to an ESPN report on Saturday, the remaining matches could be held in three cities of South India- Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The logic behind this is that these cities are far from the Pakistan border. It should not affect the league even if the stress increases again.

5. Are all foreign players still present in India? No When the BCCI decided to postpone the league, foreign players and support staff were asked to return to their country. Many of these players have returned to their home. It will be called again. There is no other major series going on anywhere in the world, so there should be no problem.

6. Why does BCCI want to organize the rest of the match in May? The April-May window is available for IPL every year. This means that no major series is being held anywhere else in the world during this period. If the remaining IPL match is not held in May, the board may have to wait till September. The final of the World Test Championship will be played between Australia and South Africa in June. After this, the Indian team is to travel to England, where a five -Test series is to be held. The rest of the team will also be busy with various series by August.

The Punjab-Delhi match had to be canceled

On May 8, the match between Punjab and Delhi had to be stopped due to increasing tensions with Pakistan. Batting first, Punjab lost 122 for 1 in 10.1 overs. The BCCI has not given any clarification on whether the match will be held again.

On May 9, 300 staff members and players of the BCCI Punjab and Delhi team were brought to Delhi by a special Vanda India train. Dharamsala Airport was closed for security reasons at that time.
