On the second day of the Oval Test, English players jumped on the field wearing a white headband. This was done in memory of former English cricketer Graham Thorpe. Thorpe played 100 Tests for England and his style of wearing white headband became very famous.
Thorpe ended his life in August 2024, fighting mental health challenges (depression and anxiety). The England Cricket Board, his wife and daughters announced a day in the name of Thorpe. On this occasion, players and viewers wore a white headband in honor of Thorpe.
