First Test drawn between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan

Rahmat Shah played an inning of 234 runs

The first match of the Test series between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan was drawn in Bulawayo. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 586 runs at Queen’s Sports Park. Afghanistan also batted well and scored 699 runs. Zimbabwe’s second innings could not be completed in the last day of the match, due to which the match ended in a draw.

In the match, 2 players from Afghanistan scored double century and one scored a century. Three players from Zimbabwe scored centuries. The competition was not special for the bowlers, 7 bowlers from both the teams spent more than 100 runs in the first innings.

Zimbabwe scored 586 runs

Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat in Bulawayo on Thursday. From the team, Shaun Williams scored 154, Craig Irwin scored 104 and Brian Bennett scored 110. Ben Curran played an inning of 68 runs and T Kaytano played an inning of 46 runs. The team scored 586 runs in the first innings.

Allah Ghazanfar took 3 wickets in the first innings for Afghanistan. Navid Zardan, Zaheer Khan and Zia ur-Rehman got 2-2 wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai got one success.

Double century of 2 players from Afghanistan

Afghanistan also batted strongly in its first innings. From the team, Rahmat Shah scored 234 runs and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 246 runs. There was also a record partnership of 364 runs between the two for the third wicket. In the end, Hazratullah Zazai also played an inning of 113 runs and took the team’s score to 699 runs.

Brian Bennett took 5 wickets and Shaun Williams took 2 wickets from Zimbabwe. Blessing Muzarabani, Trevor Gwandu and Newman Nyamhuri got 1 wicket each. 3 bowlers from the team scored 100 plus runs.

Zimbabwe lost only 4 wickets in the second innings

Afghanistan took a lead of 113 runs in the first innings. On the fifth day, Zimbabwe started the second innings. By the end of the day’s play, the team had scored 142 runs after losing 4 wickets, where they had got a lead of 29 runs. At this very moment the captains of both the teams shook hands and agreed to a draw.

From Zimbabwe, Shaun Williams scored 35, Craig Irwin scored 22, Ben Curran scored 41 and Joylord Gambi scored 24 runs. T Kaytano was out after scoring 5 runs and Dion Myers was out after scoring 4 runs. Zaheer Khan got 2 wickets and Ghazanfar got 1 wicket from Afghanistan. A batter runout also occurred.

Second test from January 2, 2025

The second and last Test of the series between the two teams will start after two days on January 2. This match will also be played in Bulawayo. Before this, there was also an ODI and T-20 series between the two. Afghanistan won the T20 series 2–1 and the ODI series 2–0. One match of the ODI series was inconclusive.
