Gupta becomes the new CEO of ICC: The purpose of making cricket a regular game at the Olympics, selection from 2500 candidates

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Gupta as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The seventh CEO will be in the history of the ICC. This choice has been made at a time when cricket is moving towards the Olympics.

Announcing this, ICC Chairman Jay Shah said that the experience of the sporting strategy and commercialization will help bring cricket to new heights.

Selected from 2500 candidates Since March 2025, more than 2,500 applications were received from 25 countries for this position. The ICC's HR and Remmunration Committee shortlisted 12 candidates. The final selection was made by the nomination committee, including ICC deputy chair Imran Khwaja, ECB chair Richard Thompson, Sri Lankan cricket president Shammi Silva, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia. Here the ICC board unanimously chose the circumstances.

Who is the Gupta Gupta? Gupta is currently the CEO of Sports and Live Experience at Jio Star. He has more than 20 years of experience in this field. The circumstances started his career as a journalist. He joined Star India in 2010. He became the Sports Head of Disney Star in 2020. He became the CEO of Geo Star Sports after the merger of Viacom-18 and Disney Star in 2024.
