ICC Approves Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025

ICC Approves Hybrid Model, India’s Matches to Be Held in Dubai

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025 following an agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This decision comes after months of discussions between the PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The BCCI had earlier refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan, which led to a standoff over hosting rights. As part of the agreement, India’s matches in the Champions Trophy will be played in Dubai, while Pakistan will host other games.

Conditions for T20 World Cup 2026

The PCB has also set conditions for the T20 World Cup 2026. According to reports, Pakistan has insisted that its league-stage matches will not be played in India but instead in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The ICC is said to have accepted this arrangement, further solidifying the hybrid model.

No Compensation for Pakistan

Although Pakistan agreed to the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, it will not receive compensation for the adjusted hosting rights. However, the PCB has secured the hosting rights for an ICC Women’s tournament after 2027, marking a positive outcome from the negotiations.

Schedule Yet to Be Released

The ICC has not yet announced the official schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025, but details are expected in the coming months. The hybrid model agreement signals a collaborative approach to resolving cross-border cricketing challenges.

The Champions Trophy 2025 promises to be a unique tournament, with matches hosted across multiple venues, bridging gaps in international cricket diplomacy.
