ICC launches an initiative for displaced Afghan women cricketers: A dedicated fund will be established to provide financial assistance

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday announced the formation of a dedicated task force to assist the displaced Afghan women cricketers. In a historic initiative, the ICC has joined hands with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and CA to assist these talented players in their cricket and personal development journey.

As part of this initiative, the ICC will establish a dedicated fund to provide direct financial assistance, which will ensure that these cricketers have the resources needed to carry out the favorite game. There will also be a strong high-performance program that will provide advanced coaching, world-class facilities and personal guidance to help them reach their full potential.

We are proud to help- Jay Shah Talking about the initiative, ICC Chairman Jay Shah said, “In the International Cricket Council, we have a deep commitment to promote the inclusion and ensure that every cricketer has a chance to shine regardless of their situations. Together with our valuable partners, we are proud of starting this task force and support fund, as well as assisting with a wide high-performance program to allow the displaced Afghan women cricketers to continue their travel in the game. This initiative reflects our steadfast commitment to the global development of cricket and its power to unite, elasticity and hope. '

The ICC believes that this initiative will not only maintain the career of the game of Afghan women cricketers, but also strengthen the role of the game as a power of unity, to defeat boundaries and opposite situations.

In addition to this initiative, the board also approved the ICC Group audited financial statements for the year 2024.

Following the recommendations of the Chief Executive Committee, the board confirmed the following appointments:

ICC Women's Cricket Committee: Catherine Campbell (Reinforcement), Avril Phahe and Foletsi Mosaki.

ICC Male Cricket Committee: Sourav Ganguly was re -appointed and appointed in the committee of Hamid Hassan, Desmond Hans, Tamba Bawuma, VVS Laxman (Re -Remembrance) and Jonathan Trott.
