IND vs PAK Hockey: India beat Pakistan 5-3 in the final, won the Junior Asia Cup title for the fifth time

The Indian team won the Men’s Junior Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan 5-3 on Wednesday. India has won the final for the fifth time. Earlier, the team had won the title in 2004, 2008, 2015, 2023 and 2024. Let us tell you that PR Sreejesh is coaching the Indian junior hockey team. Arijit Singh Hundal performed brilliantly and scored four goals in the victory of defending champion India. He scored three goals (4th, 18th and 54th minute) on penalty corner and a field goal in the 47th minute. This is India’s title hat-trick in the tournament. Last year also India defeated Pakistan in the final. At one time both the teams were tied at 3-3, but in the fourth and final quarter Hundal scored two consecutive goals and made India the winner. Apart from Hundal, Dilraj Singh scored a goal for India in the 19th minute. For Pakistan Sufiyan Khan scored two goals on penalty corner in the 30th and 39th minute and Hannan Shahid scored one goal in the third minute.

3-2 lead at half-time

The first quarter was very exciting. Pakistan took the lead over India right from the beginning. Hannan Shahid scored a field goal in the third minute, but a minute later India got its first penalty corner, which Hundal converted into a goal, giving India a draw. The second quarter went in India’s favour. India got another penalty corner in the 18th minute, on which Hundal scored a goal, giving India a 2-1 lead. A minute later, Dilraj Singh showed great stickwork and gave India a 3-1 lead. However, just before the end of the second quarter, Pakistan got a penalty corner, on which Sufiyan scored a goal, making the score 2-3. India was leading 3-2 till the half-time.

Hundal’s two goals in the fourth quarter brought victory

After the interval, Pakistan started attacking one after the other. They got the result in the form of a penalty corner in the 39th minute. Sufiyan’s drag flick was accurate here as well. His goal brought the match to a 3-3 draw. In the fourth quarter, it was the turn of the Indian team to counterattack. India got its third penalty corner in the 47th minute, but Hundal’s drag flick was saved well by the Pakistani goalkeeper Mohammad Janjua. A few seconds later, Hundal scored a goal on a cross from the left side, giving India a 4-3 lead. In the last 10 minutes, India attacked continuously. The team also got penalty corners. Hundal scored another goal, ensuring India’s 5-3 victory.
