Defending champions India have won their second consecutive match in the Under-19 Women's T-20 World Cup. On Tuesday, the team defeated Malaysia by 10 wickets. In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia batted first, but the team could only score 31 runs. India chased down the target in just 2.5 overs without losing any wicket. India defeated West Indies by 9 wickets in the first match.
For India, spinner Vaishnavi Sharma took 5 wickets for just 5 runs which included a hat-trick. He was selected player of the match.
Malaysia women all out in 14.3 overs Indian captain Nikki Prasad won the toss and chose to bowl. Malaysia lost their first wicket in the second over. Nuni Farini was dismissed without opening the account, at this point the team's score was 4 runs. No player in the team could touch double figures. Vaishnavi Sharma took the most 5 wickets from India. Ayushi Shukla took 3 wickets. VJ Joshitha got one wicket. The team was all out after scoring 31 runs in 14.3 overs. In the 14th over, Vaishnavi completed his hat-trick by dismissing Malaysia's Noor N, Noor Isma Dania and Siti Najwah in three consecutive balls.
Chasing the target of 31 runs, the Indian team chased the target without losing a single wicket in 2.5 overs. From India, Gongdi Trisha scored 27 runs in 12 balls and G Kamalini scored 4 runs in 5 balls.
India tops the points table After winning their second match in a row, India remain at the top of the Group-A points table. Sri Lanka are also 2 points behind India, but India's women's team is at number one due to a good run rate. The team will play the third match against Sri Lanka on January 23 in Kuala Lumpur.
16 teams are participating in the tournament. 4 teams were divided into 4 groups. The top 3 teams from each group will advance to the Super-6 round. Here 6-6 teams will be divided into 2 groups. The top 2 teams from each group will then advance to the semi-finals. The final will be played on February 2.
