Jofra Archer has returned to England for the third Test against India. Archer is going to play a Test match after 4 years 4 months and 15 days. England have included it in Playing-11 for the third Test against India.
Archer played his last match against India in Ahmedabad in 2021. Archer has been included in the team in place of Josh Tung. Tung took the highest wicket in the series so far, taking 11 wickets. The Lord's Test will be played tomorrow.
The ECB said in a statement on Wednesday that-
Sussex fast bowler Jofra Archer will replace Josh Tung of Nottinghamshire. This will be Jofra's first Test match after February 2021. He is going to play the 14th Test match of his career.
30 -year -old Jofra Archer has long been suffering from elbow and back injuries. England Cricket informed about Archer's return from X Post.
On Jofra's return, England captain Ben Stokes said-
Archer's return was long awaited. The way he has recovered and returned from his injury is admirable. It was a pleasure to see him in the team. This is a moment of pride for him too.
He said-
Archer's comeback has fresh in the bowling attack, especially when the bowlers are very tired after two difficult test matches.
Name from Birmingham Test due to family emergency Archer Birmingham was expected to play in the Test, but due to the family emergency he moved from the second Test of the series. He joined the team's training session a day later.

Archer was not part of the England team for the 5 -match series. He was included in the England team last week. Before that he had to prove his fitness by playing a county match. Archer bowled 18 overs in that match. He also took a wicket by giving 32 runs.
