Kohli can play for 3-4 more years: Ravi Shastri

Rohit should decide on his future

Irfan Pathan said, if Sharma had not been the captain, he would have been out of the playing 11. Former India coach Ravi Shastri believes that Virat Kohli still has 3-4 years of cricket left in him. At the same time, captain Rohit Sharma should think about the future after the Australia series due to lack of form and technique in the Test format.

Team India lost by 184 runs in the Melbourne Test on Monday. In the second innings, captain Rohit Sharma could score only 9 runs and Virat Kohli could score only 5 runs. The form of both the players remained poor this year.

Rohit scored runs at an average of 6 in BGT

India’s senior batsmen Rohit and Kohli are continuously struggling with poor form. Rohit scored only 31 runs in five innings, he could touch double figures only once. His scores in the series were 3, 6, 10, 3 and 9. During this period his average has been only 6.20. Not only this, this is the lowest average of any captain on the Australian tour.

Kohli out of form since Perth Test

Despite scoring a century in the Perth Test, Kohli is continuously getting out on balls outside the off stump. His scores in the series are 5, 100, 7, 11, 3, 36 and 5. Shastri told Star Sports, “I think Kohli can play cricket for the next three or four years, there are not many flaws in his technique.

Had he not been the captain, Rohit would not have been in the playing 11: Irfan Pathan

Former Indian fast bowler Irfan Pathan believes that if Rohit Sharma had not been the captain of India, he would not have got a place in the playing XI due to his current form. “You would have had a set team,” he said.

KL Rahul is the opening batsman, he has shown a brilliant game along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rohit could score only 42 runs in four innings during the Test against Bangladesh. He could score only 91 runs in three matches against New Zealand.

Virat will be disappointed with the way he got out: Shastri

Talking about Kohli, Shastri said, Virat batted well in the first innings. He will be disappointed with the manner of his dismissal, as he could have left the ball driving outside the off stump. Shastri said, Virat is not giving up driving outside the off stump. We all talk about his discipline, why can’t he bring that discipline on the field?

Virat was once again out on a ball outside the off stump in the second innings.

Pant’s wicket was the turning point

On the match, Shastri said, I think Rishabh Pant’s wicket was the turning point of the match. Australia knew that they could not win the match without Pant and Jaiswal. The fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin in Sydney from January 3.
