The England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the England team for the fourth Test. Left spinner Liam Dowson has returned to the squad after 8 years.
Dowson of spinner Shoaib will play in place of Bashir, who was injured in the third Test.
Bashir was injured while Ravindra Jadeja's shot was injured during the third Test match played at Lord. He is out of the remaining two matches of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.
Bashir suffered a left hand injury during the match played at the Lord.
Liam Dowson returns to Test cricket after 8 years Liam Dowson has returned to the Test team after 8 years. He last played a Test for England in July 2017. The 35 -year -old Dowse has played only 3 Tests, but has consistently performed well for Hampshire in recent years. He won the Professional Cricketers Association Player of the Year Award in 2023 and 2024.
At the recent County Championship, he took 21 wickets at an average of 40.04 in 9 matches. Even in the Vitality Blast, he took 11 wickets in 10 matches.
National selector Luke Wright said Liam Dowan has made his place. His performance at the County Championship has been excellent and he is constantly playing well for the Hampshire.
Liam Dowse last played a Test for England in July 2017.
He also returned to the England team in the T20 match against the West Indies Dowson has played all three formats for England. He returned to the T20I against the West Indies last month, where he took five wickets in three matches, the highest wicket in the series.
Fractured in Bashir's finger During the third test played at the Lord, Bashir had a fracture in the left hand finger. Surgery will be performed on his finger this week. In fact, Bashir was injured in his finger while Ravindra Jadeja was batting in India's first innings.
Jadeja's straight -handed finger was fractured while trying to catch a straight drive. He then stayed out of the field most of the time during the second innings.
On the last day, he bowled only 5.5 overs and won the Lord's Test with Mohammad Siraj's wicket.
