Pink Test to be held in Sydney

Australia players do a photo shoot before the match

The fifth and final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played between India and Australia from January 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Before this match, the Australian players had a photo shoot wearing pink caps at the Sydney Stadium on Wednesday.

This match is called Pink Test. In fact, since 2009, the first Test of the year played in Sydney is called the Pink Test. This test is not played with pink ball but only with red ball. Pink ball is used only in day-night test. However, in the Pink Test, everything is pink-pink, from the stumps to the players’ gloves, bat grips, brand logos, hoardings, caps and spectators’ attire.

Why is the pink test played?

The Pink Test is associated with former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath and his wife Jane. The third day of the Test match is known as ‘Jane McGrath Day’. Jane died of breast cancer in 2008. After this, the Pink Test was started in Sydney to raise awareness about breast cancer. This is the home ground of Glenn McGrath.

Profits from the match go to the McGrath Foundation

All profits from the match are donated to the McGraw Foundation. Glenn and his wife Jane founded the foundation in 2005, but Jane died three years later. Fans wear pink clothes to support this awareness campaign. The McGrath Foundation is a charity organization that helps breast cancer patients.

Australia lead the series 2-1

Team India lost by 184 runs in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy on Monday. India had to bat for 92 overs to save the match on the final day, but the team was all out in 79.1 overs. Australia leads the series 2-1, now the last Test will be played in Sydney from January 3.

Gambhir had told the players that he had given them 6 months to play their own way, but now that is over. From now on, any player who does not play according to the plan for the team will be called thank you.
