India's Grandmaster R Pragyananda defeated the world's No. 1 Magnus Carlson in the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour in Las Vegas. 19 -year -old Pragyanda defeated the five -time world champion in just 39 walks.
Carlson was defeated in the fourth round of the tournament group stage. In this tournament, each player gets 10 minutes for each move and 10 seconds extra time. Norway Grandmaster Carlson has also suffered a defeat in a continuous match against India's current world champion De Gukesh.
Pragyananda jointly reached the top With the win in the fourth round against Magnus Carlson, R. Pragyanda has reached the top spot with 4.5 points in the tournament of eight players. With this win, Pragyanda has managed to defeat Carlson in all three formats- classical, rapid and blitz.

Pragyanda won three out of four rounds Pragyanda started the tournament by drawing against Nodirback Abdusatrov of Uzbekistan. After this, he was confronted with Asubayeva in the second round in which he managed to win. Pragyanda maintained his rhythm from here and defeated the kimmar by playing with black pieces in the third round. He has now reached the joint top spot in the fourth round, beating the world's No.1 player Magnus Carlson.
Father works in the bank, the mother is a housewife Pragyananda was born on August 10, 2005 in Chennai. His father works in a state corporation bank, while mother is a Nagalakshmi housewife. One of his older sisters is Vaishali R. Vaishali also plays chess.
Pragyananda's name was first discussed when he won the World Youth Chess Championship at the age of 7. He then got the title of Federation International Des Ax (FID) Master. Pragyanda became the youngest international master of Chess at the age of 10 in 2016. He became a Grandmaster at the age of 12.
Prior to this, he also won the youngest international master title in 2016. He was only 10 years old at the time. In chess, the highest range of players is called Grandmaster. This is the subsequent series of the International Master.
