Rain Threat Looms Over India-Australia Gabba Test

Rain Could Impact WTC Final Chances

The Indian cricket team faces a tough challenge in the World Test Championship (WTC) as rain is expected to disrupt the Gabba Test against Australia, starting December 14 in Brisbane. Weather forecasts suggest rain on all five days, with an 88% chance on the first day alone.

India currently stands third in the WTC points table, behind South Africa and Australia. If rain forces a draw at the Gabba, India will need to win all the remaining matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to secure a spot in the WTC final without relying on other results. A draw or loss in Brisbane would mean India’s qualification hopes might depend on the outcome of the Australia-Sri Lanka series.

The Series Tied at 1-1

The ongoing five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy is tied at 1-1. India secured a 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth, while Australia bounced back with a 10-wicket win in Adelaide.

Rain Forecast for Gabba Test

According to weather predictions, there’s a high probability of rain during the Gabba Test. The first day is expected to see the most rain, with chances decreasing to 49% on the second day, 42% on the fourth day, and 25% on the third and fifth days.

What’s at Stake for India?

India had practice sessions at Brisbane on Wednesday and Thursday, preparing for what could be a pivotal match in their WTC campaign. If the Test ends in a draw, India and Australia will split the points, making it even harder for India to overtake South Africa or Australia in the standings.

The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is already trending online as fans eagerly await the outcome. All eyes are now on the weather and the performance of Team India as they aim to keep their WTC final hopes alive.
