Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill did not make it to the ICC Test Team of the Year. The International Cricket Council released this team on Friday. Pat Cummins has been made the captain of this team. Yashaswi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have also been placed.
The ICC has also released the Men's ODI Team of the Year for 2024 along with the Test team. It does not include any player from India, Australia, England, New Zealand and Africa.
Maximum 4 Sri Lankan players have got chance in the team. 3 players each from Pakistan and Afghanistan are included. Sherfan Rutherford of West Indies has also got a place. Sri Lankan captain Charith Aslanka has been given the command of the team.
Saim Ayub (Pakistan) The 2024 season has been great for this left-handed batsman from Pakistan. Sam made his debut in November. He scored 125 runs in three ODIs in Australia, followed shortly by his first ODI century in Zimbabwe. He has scored centuries in three of his last five innings, including two in South Africa in December.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan) Rahmanullah Gurbaz made his debut in 2021. Afghanistan played series against Sri Lanka, Ireland, South Africa and Bangladesh in 2024 and Gurbaz performed well in all of them.
Pathum Nisanka (Sri Lanka) Nisanka's unbeaten 210 against Afghanistan in February was the sixth-highest score by an opener in ODI history. Nisanka is the second highest ODI international run-scorer in 2024. His compatriot Kusal Mendis is on top.
Kusal Mendis (Wicket Keeper) (Sri Lanka) Mendis is the top scorer of ODI 2024. Last year he has 742 runs to his name. His highest score was 143 against New Zealand in November, the 27th highest score by a wicketkeeper in ODI history.
Charith Aslanka (Captain) (Sri Lanka) Aslanka started the year with a century against Zimbabwe. It was his only century of the calendar year. He scored half-centuries in four different matches.
Sherfan Rutherford (West Indies) Rutherford made his debut in December 2023. He played nine ODIs in 2024. The 26-year-old from Guyana scored 425 runs in seven innings for the West Indies, which is faster than a run a ball.
Azmatullah Omarzai (Afghanistan) Umarzai's all-round performance came in handy for Afghanistan in ODI matches in 2024. During this period he performed well with both bat and ball.
Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka) In January last year, Hasaranga took 7 wickets for 19 runs against Zimbabwe. Which is the fifth best performance in an innings in ODI history.
