Rohit will be captain in the Indo-England Test series: BCCI supported, Rohit won 2 ICC titles in 9 months under his captaincy

Indian captain Rohit Sharma will captain in the five-match India-England Test series to be held in June this year. In fact, last year, under his captaincy, India suffered a defeat in the Test against Australia. He dropped himself in the Sydney Test. After which, questions were being raised on the role of his leadership in the test format.

The BCCI has supported it after winning the Champions Trophy on March 9. As a captain, Rohit gave India two ICC titles in 9 months. According to the Indian Express report, Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the Test series to be held in England.

Rohit Sharma has led India in 22 Tests.

Rohit Sharma has no strong option Rohit Sharma was seen in bad form in the Test series against Australia. After which the BCCI started searching for the player in place of Rohit. In the first Test, Jasprit Bumrah won the team with his captaincy. But due to persistent injuries, it cannot be made a full-time captain. The team is planning to make Shubhman Gill a future captain but he still lacks experience. In this case, the board did not get any perfect option for captaincy in the test.

Rohit Sharma wants to play both ODIs and Test After India won the Champions Trophy, Rohit said, “I do not want to retire from ODIs. And I want to be part of Test cricket with the World Test Championship 2027, which starts in June.

The Indo-England Test series will begin on June 20 The 5 -match Test series between India and England will be played from June 20 to August 4 this year. This Test series is part of the Test World Cup to be held in 2025-2027.

India won two consecutive titles in Rohit's captaincy Captain Rohit Sharma won India 2 ICC tournament in 9 months. Prior to the Champions Trophy, on June 29, 2024, India also defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup final. With this, he became the first Indian captain to win two consecutive ICC tournaments.
