Sherfane Rutherford played a starring role as West Indies ended their 11-match losing streak against Bangladesh with a five-wicket win. The Caribbean team chased down a target of 295 runs in St. Kitts to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Rutherford, who scored his first-ever ODI century, was the hero of the match. After a slow start, he blasted 113 runs off just 80 balls, leading his team to victory with 14 balls to spare. Despite being hit on the helmet twice, Rutherford continued to play confidently, completing his century when Bangladesh gifted six runs through an over throw in the 47th over.

He then hit consecutive sixes off Soumya Sarkar, after that he was caught by Nahid Rana at short third man. By then, West Indies needed just seven more runs to win. Rutherford shared key partnerships with captain Shai Hope and Justin Greaves. He added 99 runs with Hope for the fourth wicket, with Hope scoring 86 runs off 88 balls. Rutherford also had a 95-run partnership with Greaves for the fifth wicket, with Greaves finishing unbeaten on 41 runs from 31 balls, including five fours.
For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed, Nasid Rana, Risher Hussain, Mehdi Hasan Miraz, and Soumya Sarkar all took one wicket each.
