Shubhman broke the records of Gavaskar, Tendulkar and Kohli: the best score in England, scoring the highest run as Indian captain; Top records

India scored 587 runs in the Birmingham Test against England. Captain Shubhman Gill scored 269 runs and broke the records of giants like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He became the highest score of Indian captain. India also crossed the 500 -run mark in England after 18 years.

IND vs Eng Birmingham Test Records …

1. Two -century in two formats at the age of 25 Captain Shubhman Gill scored a century on the first day in Birmingham, which he converted into a double century the next day. Shubhman, 25, was dismissed for 269 runs. This was his first double century in the Test. He has also scored a double century in the ODI format at the age of 23. Shubhman became the youngest player to score a double century in 2 different formats. He broke Rohit's record, who scored a double century in both formats at the age of 32.

2. Shubhman scored the best score in England Shubhman also became the highest scorer in England. He broke Sunil Gavaskar's 46 -year -old record. Gavaskar scored 221 runs on the Oval Ground in 1979. Apart from these two, only Rahul Dravid has been able to score a double century on England's soil in 2002.

3. Best Indian score in Test cricket outside Asia Shubhman also became the highest scorer for India outside Asia. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record, scoring 241 runs on the Sydney ground in 2004.

4. Best score of Indian captain Shubhman's double century was the best score in the Test by the Indian captain. He broke Virat Kohli's record, who played an unbeaten 254 runs against South Africa in Pune in 2019.

5. Asian captain with the best score outside of Asia Shubhman also became the highest scorer outside Asia. He broke the Sri Lankan Marwan Atapattu record, scoring 249 runs in Zimbabwe in 2004. Virat Kohli scored 200 runs on the West Indies grounds in 2016.

6. Sixth Indian captain to score a double century Shubham scored the first double century of his Test career, but he did it under his captaincy. He became the sixth Indian captain to score a double century in the Test. Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi have also scored a double century as captain.

7. The Indian captain scored the best score in England Shubhman also scored the best score in England as an Indian captain. He surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin, who scored 179 runs on the Manchester grounds in 1990.

8. The third best score by a foreign captain in England Shubhman's 269 was the third best score by a foreign captain in England. He left behind South Africa's Graeme Smith, who scored 259 at Lord's Stadium. Australia's Bob Simpson ranks first with 311 runs.

9. The third Indian to score 250+ runs outside India Shubhman Gill became the third Indian to score more than 250 Test score outside India. Prior to that, only Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid were able to do this. The duo scored more than 250 against Pakistan.

10. Shubhman's best first class score Shubhman Gill also scored his best in first class cricket. Earlier in 2018, he scored 268 runs against Tamil Nadu on Mohali grounds. At that time, he was playing his home team for Punjab.

13. Jadeja's second double century partnership in England Ravindra Jadeja shared 203 for the sixth wicket with Captain Shubhman Gill. Jadeja is also included in the best partnership for the sixth wicket in England from India. He added 222 runs with Rishabh Pant in 2022.

  • Ravindra Jadeja and Shubhman Gill shared a century for the sixth wicket and Washington Sundar shared a century for the seventh wicket. This is the first time in Test cricket when India shared 100+ runs for the sixth and seventh wicket in the same innings.
  • India scored more than 350 runs in 3 consecutive innings after 16 years. The team last did this in 2009.
  • For the first time under Ben Stokes's captaincy, a team scored more than 580 runs against England. Earlier, under the captaincy of Stokes, England only gave 500+ runs three times and the team won all three.
