Indian T20 cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav has passed the fitness test. He will now lead the Indian T20 team in the Asia Cup starting September 9.
According to the news agency PTI, 34 -year -old Suryakumar will select a 15 -member Indian team with the selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar in Mumbai on August 19.
Sports hernia in Rehab after surgery Suryakumar Yadav underwent surgery for sports hernia (at the bottom of the right abdomen) in Munich, Germany, in June 2025. He then completed his rehab program at the Center of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru and has now declared him a perfectly fit. The Indian Premier League (IPL) also went to the United Kingdom to consult an expert after the end of the 2025 season.
While posting on social media after surgery, he wrote: 'Update life, surgery for sports hernia at the bottom right of the abdomen. Surgery was done easily and I am on the way to healthy. Hopefully I will return to the field soon. '

The second highest run player in IPL 2025 Suryakumar Yadav performed brilliantly for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. He scored 717 runs in the season and became the second batter to score more than 600 runs in one season for the Mumbai Indians after Sachin Tendulkar. He was the second highest scorer in the entire tournament, only Sai Sudarshan (759 runs) of Gujarat Titans.
India's first match is against the UAE India, Pakistan, Oman and UAE have been kept in the same group. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong are in Group B. All the teams of the group will play 1-1 matches against each other. India will clash against UAE on September 10, Pakistan on September 14 and Oman on September 19.
If India and Pakistan enter the super-4 phase, the two teams will once again clash against each other on September 21. The tournament will be played on September 28. If India and Pakistan are at the top of the super-4 phase, the third match between the two can be made in the tournament.
