The third lowest score in Punjab's IPL Playoff: Jitesh caught one hand, captain Patidar won the match by beating a six; Moments-Records

Punjab scored the third lowest score of IPL playoffs in IPL-18's Qualifier-1 on Thursday. Bengaluru's wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma jumped and caught a caught catch. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the match by scoring a sixes and made the team in the final after 9 years.

Batting first at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in New Chandigarh, Punjab Kings were all out for just 101 runs. In reply, Bengaluru won by 8 wickets with the help of Phil Salt's half -century.

  • This has happened only once in the history of IPL playoffs when a score of less than 140 has been rescued. This achievement was achieved by Mumbai Indians by defending a score of 129/8 in the 2017 final.
  • Punjab Kings scored their fourth lowest score in IPL history. In 2017, the team was all out for 73 against Rising Pune Supergiant.
  • Punjab became the lowest overs in the IPL playoffs. PBKS was all out today (14.1 over). Earlier, the record was in the name of Delhi Capitals, which was limited to 16.1 overs against Rajasthan Royals in 2008.
  • Prabhasimaran Singh has now added his name to the list of batteries scoring more than 500 runs in a single season for Punjab Kings. Shaun Marsh achieved this twice, the first time he won the Orange Cap in 2008 and then in 2011. Glenn Maxwell achieved this in 2014. After this, KL Rahul scored more than 500 runs in four consecutive seasons (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). Apart from Prabhasimaran, Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer also did this in 2025.

Prabhasimaran Singh has scored 517 runs for Punjab Kings this season.

  • Phil Salt is the fastest in the IPL, the fastest of the batteries scoring 1000 runs. Travis Head and Phil Salt scored the figure for 575 balls. Andre Russell is at the top of the list, who finished only 1000 off 545 balls.
  • This is the fourth time when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) reached the final. The team played the final in 2009, 2011 and 2016. Interestingly, in the current playoff system, which began in 2011, 14 seasons have been played so far, of which the qualifier -1 -won team has become champions 11 times. It also includes the last seven consecutive seasons (2018 to 2024) where the qualifier 1 -won team has finally won the trophy.

The same team also performed poorly in the 2008 semifinals when he was able to score only 87 against the Rajasthan Royals at Mumbai Wankhede.
