Now it has become mandatory for women players to have a gender test once in their lives. For this, the World Athletics Council applied the SRY Gene Test on Wednesday.

The player who does not pass this exam will not be able to participate in world ranking competitions. The law has been created in the past years to prevent players who have changed their gender and entered the competition as a woman.

These rules will be implemented from September 1, 2025. Women players will not be able to participate in the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo from September 13 without passing the exam.

According to World Athletics, this test will have to be done only once in life. This test will be performed from the cheek by a swab or blood sample, which will identify the player's gender.

Before the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Indian woman player Dutti Chand was banned by the Athletics Federation from failing to the Gender Test.

World Athletics President Sebastian Co said-

Our goal is to protect the pride and justice of women sports. We believe that if a woman comes in sports, she should believe that there is no biological barrier. Confirming a biological gender is an important step. We clearly say that you should be biologically female to compete in the women's series. It has always been clear that the gender identity may not be above the biological gender.
