World Chess Championship: Gukesh and Liren’s sixth match ended in a draw

Third consecutive match in the final, final score tied at 3-3.

The sixth match of the FIDE World Chess Championship final being played in Singapore between Indian Grand Master D Gukesh and world champion Ding Liren ended in a draw. Both have played their third consecutive draw match. Before this, the fourth and fifth matches were also tied. So far, four matches have been drawn in the 14-match final.

After the draw match played on Sunday, both players have 3-3 points. They need 4.5 more points to win the championship. The one who reaches 7.5 points first will win it and get the title of World Champion.

The 18-year-old Gukesh forced Liren to draw after 46 moves. The 32-year-old Liren won the first game, while Gukesh managed to win the third game.

Final score tied at 3-3 After this draw, the final score between Gukesh and Liren is tied at 3-3. Both players got 0.5-0.5 points from this match

Let us tell you that in chess, one point is awarded for winning a match, whereas in a draw match both players are awarded 0.5-0.5 points. So far both players have won only one match each.

The one who gets 7.5 points first will become the champion

14 games will be played between Gukesh and Liren in the World Chess Championship final. It will continue till 12 December. If the final score is equal, then a tiebreaker match will be played, which will be held on 13 December. This is the first time in the history of the World Chess Championship that two Asian players are competing against each other to become the world champion.

Who is D Gukesh?

D Gukesh’s full name is Domaraju Gukesh and he is from Chennai. Gukesh was born in Chennai on 7 May 2006. He started playing chess at the age of 7. He was initially coached by Bhaskar Nagaiah.

Nagaiah has been an international level chess player and is a chess home tutor in Chennai. After this, Vishwanathan Anand gave coaching to Gukesh along with giving him knowledge of the game. Gukesh’s father is a doctor and his mother is a microbiologist by profession.
