Zverev reaches second Australian Open semi-final: beats Tommy Paul; Badosa reached the last-4 of a Grand Slam for the first time

World No. 2 Alexander Zverev has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open men's singles for the second time. He defeated America's Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals played on Tuesday.

Along with this, Spain's Paula Badosa has also made it to the semifinals of women's singles. She defeated world number three Coco Goff in the quarter-final match.

Zverev in search of first Grand Slam In the match played at Rod Laver Arena, Germany's star tennis player Alexander Zverev defeated America's Tommy Paul 7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1. Zverev has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open men's singles for the second time. Zverev is looking for his first Grand Slam.

Badosa in the semi-finals for the first time Spain's Paula Badosa booked her place in the semi-finals of the Australian Open by defeating world number three Coco Gough in the quarter-finals on Tuesday. Badosa defeated Goff in straight sets. The Spanish player won the match 7-5, 6-4. Badosa has reached the Slam semifinals for the first time in her career. She became the first Spanish female player to do so since Garbine Muguruza in Melbourne in 2020.

The other semi-final will be played between Djokovic-Alcarez 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia will face Carlos Alcarez in the quarter-finals. The match between the two will be played today at 2.40 PM IST. Djokovic and Alcarez have met 7 times so far. In this, Djokovic has won 4 times and Alcarez 3 times.

History of the Australian Open The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year. The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia started the tournament in 1905, which was previously known as the Australian Championships. The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia later became 'Tennis Australia'. After this, the Australian Championship was renamed the Australian Open. From 1969 this tennis tournament became officially known as the Australian Open.

First Grand Slam of the year There are 4 Grand Slams in tennis. All four are held annually, starting with the Australian Open in January. The French Open is held in May and June. Wimbledon is held in July and the US Open in August-September. The US Open is the last Grand Slam of the year.
