President Draupadi Murmu on Monday awarded Padma Awards for 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. At the first Padma ceremony of the year, 71 celebrities were honored with Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. While the rest of the celebrities will soon be honored at a separate ceremony. At the ceremony held on Monday, 4 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 57 Padma Shri Awards were given.
In the field of art, South Indian film actor Ajit and film director Shekhar Kapoor were awarded Padma Bhushan. While Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas was honored with posthumously Padma Bhushan. The award was accepted by his wife Farida.
Cricketer R Ashwin was honored with Padma Shri and hockey player Sreejesh with Padma Bhushan. Kuwait's yoga teacher Shekha Ali was also awarded the Padma Shri in the medical field.
The government announced 139 Padma awards for 2025 for the Republic Day. Six celebrities, including Sharda Sinha, Osamu Suzuki, are being given posthumous events.
19 celebrities have been selected for Padma Bhushan. This time 113 celebrities were honored with the Padma Shri. The Padma Award winners include 23 women. It also includes 10 people in the foreign/NRI/PIO/OCI category.

96 -year -old puppet artist Bhimavwa Doddalappa Shilakyathara was honored with Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of art. Bhimawa leather puppet art is an artist of Toglu Gombayata. He has been displaying epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata for 70 years through puppet.
