The Catalan coach faced his fourth consecutive defeat in the English Premier League and his crisis is worsening after being crushed by the unstoppable Liverpool.
The 2024-25 season could be one of the most disastrous in recent years for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. They have now lost six of their last seven games and the match they did not lose ended in a draw in the Champions League (3-3).
At Guardiola’s worst time, he had to face the most in-form team in England and Europe: the Liverpool. And the the succumbed to Red’s dominance from start to finish, which can be seen in the scoreline. With this result, City drops to fifth position and is eleven points behind Liverpool, who are leading in the points table.
Where has it gone wrong for Man City? 🤔

Guardiola accepts Manchester City’s five consecutive defeats
The jubilant Liverpool fans gathered at Anfield took it out on Pep Guardiola. Part of the stadium began to sing: “They’re going to sack you tomorrow”. The Catalan coach listened to them, shook his head and began to laugh, before going to the stands behind the dugouts and making the number six gesture with his hands, which is the number of Premier League titles he has won.

Not only did he do it to the Liverpool fans, but he also repeated the gesture to the stands where the City fans were located so that they could remember the feat they had achieved over the years.
The post match press conference
In the post-match press conference, Guardiola explained why he made this gesture: “Maybe they are right! I didn’t expect that at Anfield. Maybe they should have sung it in the past. I didn’t expect it from the Liverpool people, but it’s okay!” said the Catalan coach, who must find a solution for his team if he doesn’t want this season to become a nightmare.
