In an important match of Italian League Serie A, Fiorentina’s midfielder Edoardo Bove fell unconscious on the field in the middle of the match against Inter Milan. He has been admitted to the nearby Caregi Hospital in an unconscious state. He is admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As soon as 22-year-old Bove fell on the field, players of both the teams surrounded him and immediately sought medical help.

He was given first aid and taken out of the field on a stretcher and admitted to the hospital in an ambulance. This incident happened in the 16th minute of the match. After this the match was postponed. Outside the hospital, Bove’s supporters gathered with placards in their hands that read, Florence is with you.

Club mates, director rushed to the hospital

According to reports, initial tests done on the heart and brain ruled out acute damage to the central nervous system and cardio-respiratory system. He will be tested again after a few hours. It is also being said that Bove regained consciousness in the ambulance and was breathing on his own. Bove’s parents and his girlfriend, Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino and other team mates rushed to the hospital. The club’s directors and the city’s mayor were also with him. Fiorentina’s president Rocco B. Commisso said that he is in constant touch with Bove’s family to support him.

In April, Ndicka fainted on the field

In the 16th minute of the game, while assisting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), Bove bent down to tie the laces of his shoes and fell unconscious. The score was 0-0 when the match was stopped. In 2018, former Fiorentina captain David Astori was found dead in a hotel room before the match against Udine. This is the second incident of a footballer fainting on the field in Serie A this year. In April, Roma defender Ivan Ndicka fell on the field against Udinese. Bove is a product of Roma’s youth academy. He came to Fiorentina on loan. Star striker Romelu Lukaku, who played with Bove in Roma, wrote on social media, I love you, little brother, we are all with you.
